Galaktion Tabidze: Verses
Galaktion Tabidze (Galaktioni) was one of the most outstanding poets in Georgia in the early twentieth century. He is known for leading a renewal of Georgian verse that, refreshed and modernized the sounds and rhythms of poetic practice. Galaktion Tabidze was very prolific and authored thousands of poems that established him as one of the greatest Georgian poets with an immense impact on modern Georgian literature. He gained wide recognition and esteem for his talent: he was granted the prestigious title of People's Poet of Georgia in 1933, and he is affectionately known by Georgians by the nickname 'Galaktioni'. He has been translated into Russian, French, English and German.
